Let’s set the scene.

You’ve made your college decision. Phew, that was a stressful — but exciting — choice to make. You’ve made your $300 deposit and you’re officially an Alma College Scot.

What’s next? That’s where we come in. Here are five things to expect once you’ve committed to Alma College:

Receive your Alma College email address

Log in to the Alma portal at inside.alma.edu with the login information that is given to you upon your acceptance. This is your new home base for everything from email to housing, your meal plan to parking and more. The sooner you have this email, the more up to date you can stay with campus announcements.

Get ahead of the game

We have resources for you to utilize before you even step foot on campus in the fall. Download the Handshake app and sign in using your Alma email address to view available jobs on campus, personal development opportunities, internships and more.

Our students are big fans of Handshake, as the opportunity to work on campus is a popular one around here. You can also use Handshake to join mailing lists for the clubs you want to join, reach out to a faculty member or ask your admissions counselor any questions you have leading up to the fall.

Pick a room, roommate and meal plan

After you make your deposit, you’ll be able to sign your housing agreement, select a meal plan and fill out a housing profile. The longer you wait to commit, the longer it will take to complete the first step. You will then have the chance to choose your roommate this spring. This can be picked by you, or we can help with a roommate selection tool that is tailored towards your preferences.

Then you’ll pick from a number of meal plan options. Remember when you’re choosing how much Munch Money you want that Qdoba has just been added to our list of food options!

Register for classes

Of course, we can’t forget academics. Throughout mid-May to early July, there will be dedicated faculty and staff members to help you schedule classes. By the time you attend our Becoming a Scot Day in mid-July, you will have a class schedule ready for the fall. You will be assigned an advisor dependent on your major who will help guide you to graduation.
