Center women’s lives and experiences.
Because the women’s and gender studies minor is interdisciplinary, you’ll develop a strong background in the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. You’ll read classic and contemporary works that deal with women’s images, realities and choices. And you’ll consider historical and modern expressions of feminist thought.
We built our program to be flexible. That means you can create a tailored path of study around a small set of core courses. You can complement these with classes from various subject areas, among them history, sociology, religion, and political science.
What You Need to Know
Students often pair our minor with English, communication or political science majors. These combinations work well since they tap into topics that overlap with gender and sexuality, such as social dynamics, power and inequality and advocacy.
As a women’s studies minor, you’ll cultivate valuable critical, analytical and communication skills. These will prepare you for a range of rewarding careers. Some of our alumni go on to graduate school. Others find positions in sectors such as public policy, communication, education, activism, and social work.
