Exercise physiologists get people moving, improving their health, fitness and quality of life. In our clinical exercise physiology concentration – part of our integrative physiology and health science program – you will:
- Study the structure, function and integration of musculoskeletal, nervous and organ systems.
- Devise exercise prescriptions based on client health and fitness goals.
- Learn how to gather and assess health data, including stress and graded exercise testing.

Empower wellness through fitness.
As a clinical exercise physiology student, you’ll take courses covering the basics of human anatomy, physiology and nutrition. Then you’ll progress to track-specific classes. Here, you’ll focus on how physical activity can support the prevention, management and rehabilitation of medical conditions.
You will also get plenty of practical experience as many students participate in internships. In addition, several of our classes include the opportunity to develop and implement training programs — such as water aerobics, land exercises and strength training — for the local community.
What You Need to Know
Exercise physiology is an exciting career field with significant potential for patient interaction and hands-on work. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs in the sector will increase by 9% over the next decade — outpacing the average growth rate.
Our program prepares you for entry-level kinesiology, exercise science and fitness positions. Alternatively, many alumni pursue postgraduate study in exercise science, kinesiology or other health-related areas.
