International and Off-Campus Study

Where will your Alma education take you?

Whether it’s a four-week Spring Term course, a summer or a full semester, Alma students are going places.

The Center for College and Community Engagement, located in the Hatcher Learning Commons, has staff who can help you find the off-campus study program that is right for you. Spend a semester studying in one of over 30 countries around the globe or, if you prefer to remain in the United States, study and intern in one of four metropolitan centers: New York, Philadelphia, Chicago or Washington, D.C.

Internship-based Programs

Each of the internship-based programs combines internships, professional development and traditional coursework and and connects you with housing, an orientation to navigating the city, and a local network of support.

  • International Internships through CIEE

These off-campus study programs match you with internships, housing, and more, while you earn academic credit toward graduation. If you identify your own internship opportunities, you may work with the college to apply for academic credit, funding through the Alma Venture Program, and support from the Career and Personal Development team to make the most of their internship experience.

4-Week Spring Term Course

Would you prefer to study off-campus with the support of a group of Alma College faculty and students? Alma College offers 4-week Spring Term course options.

International Off-Campus Study Programs

Earn Alma College credit at one of hundreds of partner academic programs around the globe during the summer, semester, or spring term. With programs on every continent except Antarctica, and opportunities for every major, if you want to study abroad during your time in college, we can help you find the program that fits your personal, professional, and academic goals. For example, you could:

  • Spend a semester studying at a university in Scotland
  • Learn a language through immersion, while living with a homestay family
  • Join a short-term summer language and cultural program in a place you’ve always wanted to visit
  • Get a new perspective on your academic discipline during a multi-country summer or semester program

Alma Venture

Off-Campus Costs and Financial Aid

The total cost of studying off-campus varies by the program, based on location, duration and enrolling institutions’ fees. As part of the application process, students will be provided with a detailed cost estimate for the program of interest.
