Events & Operations Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the daily oversight and management of the Heritage Center, Opera House Ballroom and the Alma College overnight accommodations. In addition, this position will assist in the execution of external events (weddings, conferences, etc.). This position will work closely with the Dance, Theatre & Music Departments to ensure their needs are meet for their performances.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED:

This position reports to the Director of Hospitality and Conference Services.
This position supervises the student staff in Hospitality Services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Schedule and oversee the following facilities & operations: Heritage Center, Opera House Ballroom & overnight accommodations.
• Manage the Heritage Center Box Office, including the hiring, training & supervision of student staff.
• Assist in the execution and oversight of all external events, including weddings, conferences and other events hosted in event spaces.
• Provide daily oversight of the overnight accommodation spaces and monitor the daily upkeep of the spaces.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to ensure all materials are correct and distributed within campus and local community.
• Serve on Alma College committees, as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Previous higher education experience preferably with international students.
• Demonstrated experience in program/event planning.
• Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Extraordinary ability to organize, prioritize, and multitask.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow through and meet deadlines and budgets.
• Ability to work weekends and evenings, as needed.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Commitment to the mission, vision, and goals of Alma College.
