Biography

Dr. Kyle Gibson joined the faculty at Alma in 2023 following his time as an International Institute of Nanotechnology Postdoctoral Fellow at Northwestern University under the guidance of Dr. Chad Mirkin. Kyle’s research focuses on variety of nanoscale materials, objects which are between 1-100 nanometers or roughly 1,000x smaller than the width of a human hair. Materials on this size scale behave very different from either atomic or bulk analogs. Research in this area is often very interdisciplinary as it involves aspects of inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, organic synthesis, and analytical chemistry. Currently, his research explores how nanoparticle shape, ligand architecture, and solution conditions affect nanoparticle self-assembly and crystallization.

Educational Background:
B.S. Chemistry, Hope College (2012)
