Research
Independent research is an important component of the chemistry program at Alma College. Each professor has their own research laboratory located adjacent to their offices. These labs contain ample hoods for sample preparation and reactions. Independent research takes place on a close individual basis between the student and professor and allows access to state of the art equipment. Students can begin an independent research project as early as their freshman year!
Lab Assistant
We create opportunities for our students in our teaching laboratories as undergraduate lab assistants under the supervision of a faculty member. These experiences can lead to a better understanding of the teaching and learning process, a deeper appreciation for the subject matter, development of leadership and self-confidence, better time management skills, an improvement of writing and presentation skills and let’s not forget that it looks good on a resume, too.
