Biography
A sought-after soloist, concert artist, and choral singer, soprano Melanie Walker strives to perform a variety of classical, operatic, sacred, musical theater, and contemporary vocal repertoire.
Her most recent credits include Street Singer (MASS), Arminda (La Finta Giardiniera), covering Miss Wordsworth (Albert Herring), La Sorella Infermiera (Sour Angelica), and Girl 2/Actor 2 (ANON). She most recently was the mezzo soloist for the Duruflé Requiem with Alma College Choirs and has performed various concert and chamber works, including the Mozart Requiem, Fauré Requiem, Haydn Lord Nelson Mass, Vaughan Williams Serenade to Music, Handel Dixit Dominus and Vivaldi Gloria.
She has additionally premiered many contemporary vocal works, including Rekindle by Christopher Kaminski, Les Roses de Saadi by Philip Lasser and I wanna fly by Duncan-Peterson Jones. She studied with Jane Bunnell, Elizabeth Futral, Dr. Carl Ratner and Molly Fillmore, and has collaborated with artists including George Shirley, Linda Watson, Ellen Hargis and Allen Perriello.
Melanie currently serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Voice at Alma College and performs in a variety of local and professional choral ensembles throughout Michigan and across the United States.
