Director of Brand Marketing

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Vice President for Communication and Marketing, the Director of Brand Marketing is responsible for the planning and execution of marketing, communications, brand identity and campaign management for the college with special emphasis on the core areas of enrollment management, advancement and alumni relations. This includes coordination of the communication and marketing office staff toward the production and maintenance of print materials, digital advertising and the college website. Additional oversight of contracted firms including project management of campaigns will be ongoing. This role requires a high level of organization, the ability to advance multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, and strong attention to building relationships with campus and external partners through strong creative vision, interpersonal communication and project management skills.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED:

The Director of Brand Marketing reports to the Vice President for Communication and Marketing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Work directly with vice president of communication and marketing to develop marketing programs, design marketing strategies, and implement marketing campaigns.
• Provide leadership and direction in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the strategic marketing plan for the organization.
• Serve as a key brand champion for the college’s brand platform, including visual identity and positioning and messaging platform.
• Coordinate and work closely with all members of the creative process, including design team, copywriting, video production, web development, social media, and email marketing.
• Write content for and oversee the production of digital and printed promotional materials.
• Provide creative direction and feedback on graphic design elements and creative materials.
• Develop and manage annual marketing budgets for the organization, regularly monitor expenditures; prepare summary assessments and reports.
• Keep current with audience preferences and proactively bring forward creative approaches and ideas.
• Establish and manage relationships with campus and external partners.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field in addition to 5 or more year’s demonstrated experience in marketing.
• 5 or more years working with creative teams, including design, copy, production, and photo/video.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, able to flex style and work with all levels within the organization from individual contributors to executives.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Experience creating and executing large-scale marketing campaigns, targeted digital and social efforts and more.
• Experience working within an enterprise-level brand structure and in working with teams of creative professionals.
• Strong writing and proofreading skills.
• A strong comfort level with digital strategies.
• An ability to meet long term project deadlines while adapting to immediate demands.
• A proven track record of time management and self-directed leadership.
• Experience in marketing with demonstrable results.
• Experience establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
• Experience leading, directing and motivating team members, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
• High level of collaboration, communication and teamwork.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in related field
• Experience in graphic design and professional copywriting
• Experience in digital marketing
• Experience working with a structured project management system (such as Asana and Lucidcharts)
• Experience working with web content management systems
